The Sea

A Sonnet, By Me:

The birds along the waterfront all sing

Their songs can't be compared to anything

I listen well as I go on my way

How I wish I could simply sit and stay

The sun is bright, the sea is calm, i live

The day is short, the night is cold, i give

My soul to it, the restful peace, the sea

That harsh mistress, that will not give to me

Next day, I take, a simple boat upstream

The wash from waves, swirls slow, i watch it gleam

The forest reaches high above my boat

It looks on me as if to laugh and gloat

I take its hint, and turn my boat sadly

But really i return to sea gladly
