Tanka:
The cold car awaits
I get in and turn the key
The engine heats up
I feel the warmth on my skin
As the heater starts up
Poem 2:
The cold car awaits and i get in
I turn the key and the engine starts
I feel the warmth run across my skin
As the heater starts, warm air flows out
Poem 3:
The cold awaits me in my car
I turn the key, the engine starts
I feel the warmth against my skin
The heater starts, I settle in
Poem 4:
My car sits there cold and frozen
Key turns, hoping, that engine starts
Warmth runs across my skin so nice
Heater starts up warm air flows out
Poem 5:
Can't wait for my heater while walking from my house
To the car, in the car, turning key, starts right up
Heater starts, smiling i let it wash over me
Warmth fills me, I'm ready, let's go, I drive away
Poem 6:
I walk out of my house and I go to my car
I get in, turn the key, engine starts and I'm off
I get cold, start the heater and warmth fills the car
On my way, go to school, learn some stuff and then home
My favorite version of this poem is number 6. I can read through it and easily find the meter right away. Also, I really like the sound of the diddy DUM of anapests and I think that it is the easiest form to write in. The other poems are pretty good but I felt like I kind of fudged the syllables on a few of them and the anapest poem sounds the most natural to me without fudging any syllables.
